All about the outlook

It has hosted a Hemsworth and comes with every bell and whistle imaginable, but the real star of the show at this Upper Coomera home is the view

- WORDS: LISA HUGHES

THERE is little anyone could want that this Upper Coomera estate doesn’t already deliver.

Basketball court? Check. Infinity pool with panoramic views? Check. Soundproof stateof-the-art recording studio? Check.

These are only some of a long list of features and additions that make this family home the property of choice for visiting Hollywood actors, including a Hemsworth, and high-profile businesspeople.

While it remains the day-to-day home of an entrepreneur, his wife and three sons aged under 12, it is also listed as a five-star property on Airbnb.

Available to rent for up to $3500 a week means the family have on several occasions had to up sticks and move to a rental of their own when a booking comes in.

“We have had a range of chief executives and people from international locations choose it as a place to bring their families because it is exclusive and private. Some people will pay a lot of money for that, and if privacy is important it’s hard to beat this location,” the owner said.

“Having to pack up and move out on a whim isn’t for everyone, but it was too good an opportunity for us to pass up,” he said.

Channel Nine also approached the family about using the house as the set for its next series of Love Island hosted by Sophie Monk – the request was declined.

Bought in 2016, the owners have spent four years turning it into their own private escape.

An existing house on the acreage was gutted and rebuilt, and about five acres of an overgrown 20-acre block was painstakingly cleared to make way for the property’s now manicured lawns and gardens, including fruit trees.

A huge outdoor deck was added to the rear of the home, overlooking a three-way infinity pool, full-size tennis and half-size basketball court.

“We lived in Brisbane and were looking for acreage near private schools. This area is only half an hour away on the M1 and still close to beaches. We settled here because it offered us the best of both worlds,” the owner said.

However, despite all the home’s bells and whistles, the biggest draw of the property is without doubt the view.

“It’s almost impossible to describe. You stand on the deck and look at Brisbane, but also have total panoramas across the cane fields and theme parks right through to the Coast down to Burleigh and then out to the hinterland with not a thing obscuring it anywhere. It’s truly magnificent,” the owner said.

Everything about the home, including the positioning of the pool, was built with the view in mind, including the floor to ceiling windows in the master bedroom.

Other special features include a backlit marble island bench in the kitchen and a wood fireplace.

“We’ve had that on every day for the past week or so and it’s such a nice thing to have in the colder weather.”

The owners have spent almost $3 million building the unique property after buying it for $1.2 million as a deceased estate.

While they have enjoyed living there, they feel the market conditions are right for them to sell and move on.
