Emerson’s $8m crowning glory

We reveal the first glimpses of the penthouse in Kirra’s latest beachfront project, which is aiming to set the benchmark for luxury along the southern Coast

THE first renders of the penthouse set to top, Emerson, a 13-storey luxury tower to be built in the heart of Kirra, have been revealed.

Its aspirational design featuring earthy elements and textures are what the developer hopes will cement the penthouse’s place among the Gold Coast’s most lavish – and justify its $8m price tag.

Melbourne based developer Hirsch & Faigen is behind the beach front project at 100 Musgrave Street, which launched this week and is comprised of 27 apartments, with Brisbane architect Rothelowman behind its “unconventional naturalistic design”.

Maximising space and light through a clever floor plan are key aspects of the penthouse’s design, which principal architect Jeff Brown said was a modern take on the classic beachside home.

Generally, he said Emerson’s architecture resisted the temptation to interfere with the attributes of its location.

“Sun, sand, salt and wind define a day here, and the architecture’s primary goal is to enhance the presence of these fundamentals,” Mr Brown said. “Such an approach will ensure Emerson achieves a timelessness well beyond its creation.”

Levels two and three of the building will be home to four apartments per floor, with levels five to twelve accommodating a collection of half-floor apartments, with prices starting from $2.95 million.

Yet the penthouse is without doubt its crowning glory and features 3m-high ceilings, intuitive design flow, and walllength windows that fade into cinematic views of Kirra.

“Space is the most valuable luxury and as such the penthouse floor plan deliberately and selectively arranges walls, joinery, glazing and materials in a manner that seeks generosity and grandiosity,” Mr Brown said.

“Each room is considered for its individual function and experience as part of the larger dwelling; a collection of spaces each adding to the greater narrative of living in this place.”

Wide, dual balconies front the penthouse to take in views across the ocean, and capture sunrises and sunsets.

Matt George, the head of sales for Hirsch & Faigen, said the penthouse would be one of the most exclusive on the Coast and be a benchmark for the southern beaches.

“The penthouse is an exquisite example of contemporary luxury, complemented by an unbeatable north facing view of one of Australia’s most coveted skylines,” he said.

Communal facilities in the project will include a work-life lounge on the ground floor, steps away from the beachfront and with private alcoves to work in.

There will also be a north-facing sun lounge and resort-style pool, surrounded by sub-tropical landscaping.

Emerson is the second of three Gold Coast projects undertaken by Hirsch & Faigen and comes hot on the heels of its Palm Beach debut Hemingway, which has sold out, while a DA has been lodged with council for a luxury residential tower to be built in Mermaid Beach.
