Slice of Manhattan in Main Beach

Buyers have the opportunity to secure a 1980s apartment in Silverpoint – the iconic tower that many high-profile residents have called home

IT is Main Beach’s iconic residential tower – the tower Harry Triguboff built – and over the years it has housed some of Australia’s biggest heavy hitters, including Seven executive Ryan Stokes and ex-Aussie Homes Loans boss James Symond.

Right now, buyers have the rare opportunity to buy a 19th-floor apartment in the late-1980s, 30-storey giant of the Gold Coast property market.

“Not only does it have a balcony that wraps right the way around the unit, offering incredible views, it also has two large living areas and two car spaces [most of the apartments in the complex only have one],” according to marketing agent Trina Henry of

Bourke Prestige Agents.

While the two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 232sq m abode is decked out in New York chic style, it hasn’t been renovated, so does lend itself to a new look if someone wants to put their stamp on the place.

Its position in one of the city’s most prestigious coastal neighbourhoods means residents are spoiled for choice when it comes to cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, with Tedder Avenue a short stroll away. Also near by is Southport Yacht Club, Marina Mirage, and high-end luxury hotel Palazzo Versace.

“The owner is from overseas and he has come back to the country to move this apartment on,” Ms Henry said.

She said in the two weeks it has been on the market, there has been plenty of interest from locals as well as those interstate and overseas.

Recent sales in the building, which residential-only, have been upwards of $2 million.

A fully-renovated apartment on the 14th floor sold for $2.5 million and the other one on the 19th floor [owned by the same person] sold for $2.15 million.

“Put this building anywhere else in the world and you will be paying a lot more,” Ms henry said. “It’s very lifestyle oriented and it’s right up there with the best properties I have on my books right now.”
