The Event of year to sell at auction

SELL now and sell at auction. That’s the message for Gold Coast property owners looking to achieve the best price in what is still an uncertain market.

Ray White Surfers Paradise Group chairman Andrew Bell is urging property owners not to miss the opportunities available in the current market, where stock is still limited, but there were plenty of genuine buyers who could be reached with the right approach.

And that approach was all about auctions, he said.

“Quite simply, most sellers should be looking to sell their home at auction,” Mr Bell said. “Even in this market, where interest rates will undoubtedly continue to rise, causing stress for some, we are achieving amazing auction results.

“Anyone thinking of selling their property should act now or risk missing the opportunity to achieve the best price.

“This period of the year provides the most opportunity.

“We have the biggest annual influx of tourists arriving to the Gold Coast.

“The hotels are full. And a lot of these tourists are looking at the property market, for holiday homes, investment properties or to move to the Gold Coast. This is the ideal time to list a property for sale.”

Mr Bell said that selling at auction sent buyers a clear message that the seller was serious. “Sellers also have a lot of control during the auction process, with the ability to set their own terms largely, and there is a great deal of transparency in an auction, which is something both buyers and sellers are looking for.”

Mr Bell hosts The Event, where a large group of properties go under the hammer in one action-packed day every January.

“The 2022 Event saw us sell almost all properties, with many of the listed properties sold prior to The Event happening.

“We are expecting similarly strong results for the 2023 Event.

“One of the reasons The Event is such a success for both buyers and sellers is that we have a large selection of properties, and a room packed with genuine buyers.

“Buyers who miss out on one property, can go right to their next choice.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for sellers to ensure there is a huge crowd at their auction, and that generally translates to stronger prices and clearance rates.”
