Views are ‘future-proofed’

-

CHEVRON Island’s newest residential tower is raising the standard of future focused design, with ‘stretched’ living areas and cantilevered balconies, premium on-site work facilities, and a level of rooftop amenity not yet seen on the Gold Coast.

Tapestry is the creation of southeast developer Siera Property Group and Gold Coast design studio BDA Architecture, who have collaborated on a design that not only celebrates its unique island and coastal location, but also considers future planning and development to preserve view lines.

BDA senior project leader John Lightbody said understanding the capacity of known and potential future developments in the area enabled the design team to future-proof Tapestry’s views and introduce a series of stunning design features.

“Voronoi shapes, by their nature, adapt and shift in response to change,” Mr Lightbody said.

“We wove this concept into the design in a subtle and sophisticated way to inform the planning of our building in response to prevailing views, and environmental conditions, while also creating a link to HOTA’s own use of Voronoi geometry.

“For Tapestry, this led to organic balcony and living shapes that respond to the site, stretching to capture coastal and river views.

“This has created a work of art that is of its place, and of its future place, too.

“The cantilevered balconies allow for a clear 3m diameter space, so they are a truly functional and flexible outdoor living and dining spaces. No balcony looks onto another, ensuring privacy.”

Mr Lightbody said Tapestry’s sculptural 22-storey tower is crowned by rooftop amenities.

“The rooftop delivers more than 700 sqm of recreation zones to relax, connect and engage with the elevated landscape,” he said.

“This includes a private dining room and kitchen with its own terrace, lounge and fire pit, yoga lawn, infinity edge pool, spa and sundeck, barbecue and alfresco area, gymnasium with two private outdoor terraces, sauna, steam room, and lounge lobby, with outdoor spaces separated by extensive landscaping,” he said.

Siera Property Group founder and managing director, Brent Thompson, said sustainability and the recent lifestyle shift towards hybrid working environments played a significant role in the design of Tapestry’s private resident amenities.

“Purchaser expectations have changed during the pandemic – they want better access to light and air with a focus on larger living and recreation spaces, and natural ventilation,” Mr Thompson said.

“And while working from home has provided increased balance, it has also allowed work to intrude into our leisure spaces.

“It’s important for people to love the space they’re in, whether it’s for living or working, or both”.
