Ibiza-style mansion hits market

Home oozes coastal luxe with glamorous finishes to create the ultimate beach abode

-

Interior designer Kelle Davis was a single mum of two when she envisaged Bajo El Sol, a fashionforward beach home but also a deeply personal expression of the things that inspired her most. Four years on, Ms Davis is ready to find her next place in the sun with new husband, professional coach Steph Davis — the couple were married last September — and her children, aged 8 and 11.

The luxury Burleigh Heads home is listed with Ed Cherry, of Harcourts Coastal, and Michael Witt, of McGrath, and goes to auction on March 17.

With four bedrooms and three bathrooms over two levels on a 612sq m lot on Tawarri Cres, Bajo El Sol — or “under the sun” in Spanish — exudes resort-style luxury with an easy flow between open-plan interiors and al fresco spaces.

Ms Davis describes her design style as “raw, coastal, luxe”, demonstrated through the award-winning home’s creamy curves, rendered textures and striking landscaping.

“When I built Bajo I was a solo mum, and a big part of it was creating something that was my dream and my vision,” Ms Davis said.

“My husband and I are ready to create something else that is truly unique.

“We are both in our 40s and to meet the love of your life at that age is so special, and so our next project will be about bringing our ideas and our values together as we build our new life as a family,” she said.

The couple is on the hunt for a renovator in the Burleigh area, and toying with ideas from Mexican architecture and Japanese minimalism.

Conceived in collaboration with BCG Building Design and built by PJH Constructions, Bajo El Sol draws on global coastal destinations and, in turn, has captured the imagination of thousands around the world through Ms Davis’ online following.

The property has also served as an aspirational backdrop for brand campaigns including Dissh, Michael Hill, Sabo Skirt, City Beach, and Kookai.

“I had started the vision about 18 months before I even found the location. Ibiza, Mexico, Palm Springs and Greece were big inspirations, and I generally draw inspiration from more commercial spaces, so luxury hotels, day spas and bars, rather than residential homes,” Ms Davis said.

Located in the popular community of Koala Park between Burleigh Beach and Tallebudgera Creek, the home’s groundlevel kitchen with butler’s pantry flows to the living and dining spaces and outdoors, to the glamorous pool and floating lounge.

Also on this floor, the unique cinema room, one of Ms Davis’ favourite places with its built-in day bed and custom upholstery.

A statement floating staircase and raw brass balustrade connects levels one and two via a light-filled void.

Upstairs, custom timber double doors beckon towards the master bedroom sanctuary with its own balcony plus a walkin robe modelled on a luxury retail boutique, lavish ensuite, and circular window highlighting a private space for meditation or study.

The property has claimed a number of industry accolades, including three Qld Master Builders awards in 2020, and was named Gold Coast regional winner from the Building Designers Association of Qld.
