Mermaid’s tale double take for Heine

ACTRESS Cariba Heine, who got her break on the Gold Coast-filmed international kids hit H20 Just Add Water, has slipped back into her tail to film for the show’s sequel, Mako Mermaids.

“It’s a bit like riding a bike. You wonder if you’ve forgotten what to do, but it all comes flooding back and you’re off and away,’’ said the Los Angeles-based, Brisbane-reared actress.

Heine will appear in the last two episodes of season three of the international kids hit which airs in Australia on Channel 10 multichannel Eleven and Netflix worldwide.

She reprises her role as Rikki Chadwick, working alongside a new generation of mermaids Isabel Durant ( Dance Academy) as Ondina; Canadian Allie Bertram ( Sucker Punch) as Mimmi and Linda Ngo as Weilan.

Heine won’t reveal how her character resurfaces but the show’s makers have released a picture of the four in the magical Mako pool, a location that features in both TV series.

“I don’t want to spoil any surprises but I will say it’s not what anyone will expect,” she said.

“I read the script and thought, I really love this.’’

Heine had been in and out of the US until making the move full time to Los Angeles in February and says returning for Mako on the Gold Coast was a bit like coming home.

“It’s amazing how many of the crew are the same. It’s been lovely to catch up,’’ she said.

“It feels like I’m watching myself and the others, one step removed.”
