VERONIQUE (Nikki) Flier, store manager, has been with the Endeavour group for about three years and said that their win was very much a “team effort”.

“We are absolutely delighted to have, once again, won this award,” she said.

“The volunteer team at Ashmore is second-to-none, and their pride in the store and commitment to supporting people with a disability is remarkable.

“The camaraderi­e among the volunteers motivates me every day because it’s such an upbeat environmen­t, but we’re always looking for new team members.”

Nikki said the shop’s success was largely due to its niche, high quality stock.

“This is no ordinary ‘op shop’ — it’s a treasure trove of high quality preloved and new clothing, jewellery and books, with some beautiful vintage items and an exceptiona­l shoe range,” she said.

“We get a lot of designer label jackets and clothing and handbags — we’ve got a Valentino bag at the moment — and a lot comes through still with the tags on.

“We’ve also got a retro range with a lot of vintage type stuff as well as evening dresses and fancy dress.”

Nikki said what made Endeavour truly special was their common goal to provide support to local people with a

Yasmin Morris says her favourite thing about Living Rivers is that they’re a “giving” store. “If we have a lot of a certain thing we’ll put boxes of free things outside and people can just take them as they need them,” she said. Not being affiliated with a larger op shop brand the whole team including volunteers were over the moon with their spot on the best op shop list.

Molendinar’s Lifeline is total warehouse op shopping, with the building seemingly big enough to shelter an aircraft. Inside, it’s easy to get lost in the endless clothing racks, shoes on display, small and large furniture items, toys, homewares, artwork and accessorie­s. Being close to Griffith University makes Lifeline Molendinar a hot spot for university students looking for bargain buys or costumes for their latest dressup party and the proceeds go to the national charity which provides all Australian­s with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.
