WHAT PROJECT EVOLT IS ABOUT

- LUCY KINBACHER

GET healthy and win a share of $250,000.

That’s the reality for Gold Coasters who sign up to the Project Evolt 12-week challenge which uses a measurement system that can calculate everything from fat around organs to fitness levels.

Created by Burleigh-based company Evolt, the challenge isn’t focused on weight loss but rather health improvements by tracking the results of a 60sec body scan.

As extra incentive to participants, the most inspirational female and male transformation from the challenge will walk away with $100,000 each. Participants who sign up for the challenge complete at least three Evolt body scans using kiosks set up at Westfield shopping centres and gyms across Australia.

They are also given assistance from Evolt staff and famous sportspeople including Jarryd Hayne on diets and training sessions.

The prize winners will be judged on the way their life has changed since starting the 12-week challenge and Evolt co-founder Kelly Weideman said it wouldn’t necessarily come down to the biggest weight loss.

“You might even be a mum with two kids and you have done the 12 weeks, you have only lost 2kg on the scales but you have more energy, you feel great and you are out and about with your kids,” she said.

“That’s what we are trying to show people, it’s not about weight and it’s not about BMI, it’s about feeling good and being healthy on the inside.”

Runaway Bay tyre shop manager Daniel Jackson has signed up for the challenge and said while the money would be nice he just wanted to be able to enjoy simple things in life.

“I just want to be able to buy a pair of boardshorts,” he said.

“Honestly I wouldn’t care if I got a single cent. I just want to be able to live and have kids ... and be able to see past my 50th birthday because the path that I’m going, if I keep going, I won’t make it.”

Gold Coast Ironwoman Kirsty Higgison is one of the athletes involved as a mentor in the challenge and said the Evolt data was the most thorough she had heard of.

“To team up all this science and technology with us being able to help (participants) on their journey, I don’t think it gets any better than that,” she said.

Project Evolt costs $40 for each body scan and registration is open until September 25.
