BED DOWN THE BASICS

Because of its personal nature, your bedroom represents your identity and your most intimate self ... it also reflects whether you are currently involved or single

- WITH JULIET ALLEN

Take a moment to close your eyes and imagine what your bedroom looks and feels like. Notice the colour, the floors, the bed sheets, the scent … really take time to get a feel of the energy in your bedroom.

Is it cluttered? It is light and airy? Is it messy and chaotic? Is it sensual and warm?

The state of our bedroom has a huge impact on the state of our sex life.

In order for us to open to intimacy, connection and sex, we ultimately need a bedroom that is clear of negative energy. For example, I only use my bedroom for resting, sleeping and sexing.

I have minimal clutter, I always make our bed in the morning, I have an altar with a candle and sage and a handful of other things that represent peace, passion and love.

I burn candles, I read books that make me feel amazing, I make sure the room is always clean and the windows are open (allowing fresh air to cleanse the space).

I never have my laptop, phone or TV in the bedroom – that’s the ultimate no-no and in Feng Shui it is believed that screens in bedrooms lead to infidelity. Why is the energy in the bedroom so important?

It’s important because the bedroom is a sacred space where we sleep and where we make love and/or have crazy amazing casual sex.

Either way, I guarantee that if you take a few hours over the next few days to cleanse the space and create new boundaries around what goes in and out of the space, you will notice a shift in your sex and relationship life.

What if you’re not having or wanting sex? That’s completely OK too. Just remember, you bedroom is a retreat where you can nurture your self and your body.

Don’t underestimate the power of the energy in the room.

Honour yourself by creating a feel in the bedroom that represents what you want to feel in life.

It’s as simple as that.
