JAGUAR’S all-new, all-svelte SUV – the F-Pace – is already making a few waves on the Gold Coast.

The British-born wagon with allwheel drive is a major departure for Jaguar, known for years as a maker of fine sedans and sports cars.

But with SUV sales continuing to grow around the world, and now attracting product from the likes of Lamborghini and Maserati, Jaguar’s motored into the segment with the F-Pace.

And that’s timely for Beric Lynton, dealer principal of Bruce Lynton Jaguar.

The Bruce Lynton dealership in Southport has sold Land Rover for 21 years, adding the Jaguar franchise late last year.

And it is now in the midst of building a new showroom for the British marques on Minnie St.

Beric Lynton says it’s a great fit and great timing for the JaguarLand Rover combination with both makers looking to have another three new models in showrooms over the next three years. For now, it’s all about the Jaguar F-Pace which starts out in the early $80,000s.

“It drives like a sports car in an SUV body,” Beric said.

“And it will open the Jaguar brand to a whole new age demographic. Where Jaguars before were sold into a wider, more mature age bracket, we’ll see 30year olds in the F-Pace.”

A spin-off will be wider exposure of Jaguar’s all-new XE and reworked XF sedans.

It is early days yet for the F-Pace but a dozen or more have been sold on the Coast with Beric expecting at least five orders a month from here, many of those to be entry-level petrol and diesel versions.

Conquest sales could come from a mix of machines, from Toyota Klugers to Audi and BMW SUVs with the Jaguar F-Pace’s main rivals expected to be the likes of the Porsche Macan, BMW’s X3 and X4 plus Audi’s Q3.
