Il Ritorno Circa, Bundall: The stage is awash with bodies tumbling, lifting and clutching. Then, out of the darkness and gnawed by nostalgia, the Greek hero Ulysses appears after 20 long years of war and wanderings. Will he reach his faithful wife Penelope before she succumbs to her suitors? Il Ritorno is a groundbrea­king new work fusing Circa’s world-renowned stripped-back acrobatics with baroque opera. Tonight, 7.30pm at the Arts Centre Gold Coast. Adults $48.

Soweto Gospel Choir, Bundall: One of the world’s greatest vocal ensembles, the Soweto Gospel Choir has won four Grammys, an Emmy Award and an Academy Award nomination for its work with Peter Gabriel. Hailing from Soweto in Johannesbu­rg, the Soweto Gospel Choir brings together some of Africa’s finest singers performing a repertoire that combines traditiona­l African songs handed down through the generation­s, African gospel, the group’s unique renditions of internatio­nal classics as well as South African freedom songs. Performing for one night only at The Arts Centre Gold Coast tomorrow, 5pm. A Reserve seating $89.

Higher and Higher, Benowa: With slick choreograp­hy and good voices, Higher and Higher is a Motown musical that takes you back to the hits from superstars like The Supremes, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson Five. With an explosive live band and the Gold Coast’s finest vocal talents, Higher and Higher features more than 50 classic songs. On tonight at 7.30pm and tomorrow at 2pm at the Spotlight Theatre. Bloodbath, Dracula’s, Broadbeach: The famed cabaret restaurant’s latest vampire vaudeville show features mischievou­s comedy, midair performanc­es, colourful costumes, sensuous burlesque, slick jazz, sizzling comedy and a punchy song list.
