Scents can be the biggest turn ons and turn offs — follow your nose to enhance your sex life
USING the five senses to enhance our pleasure has been the topic of my columns over the past few weeks. We have explored taste, touch and sight … today we are exploring scent/smell and how we can use that to increase pleasure and intimacy.
I’m a big fan of this sense, so I’m going to talk about my personal use of scent and how it can increase pleasure.
Firstly, I use incense, essential oils, scented candles and perfume in my home every day.
My home always smells amazing and even my car smells great.
I truly value smelling like a goddess and value this in my lover.
Here are five ways you can incorporate smell into your love making:
LIGHT A SCENTED CANDLE AND/OR INCENSE
There are so many delicious candles on the market that give off such amazing scents and turn your home and bedroom into a sex machine! My favourites are coconut, vanilla and lemongrass.
Incense is also one of my faves … it’s a little more intense, so you do need to choose wisely. My favourite scents are coconut, Nag Champa Super Hit, Precious Chanden and Night Queen.
INDULGE IN QUALITY PERFUME/ COLOGNE
Spend some time looking for the perfect fragrance that you love.
I find a lot of perfume a bit overpowering and flowery … my favourite place to shop for fragrance is MECCA because it stocks a range of hard to find fragrance that isn’t stocked in the big department stores.
Gentleman, there’s nothing better than a man who smells amazing. But remember, LESS IS MORE. Just one spray … it’s better to get a hint of the scent and not a bucket full that makes you sneeze!
Make sure you use deodorant and look after basic hygiene This may sound obvious to some, but trust me, there are some people out there who don’t prioritise hygiene and there’s nothing worse than body odour, smelly genitals and bad breath.
Ladies and gents, invest in a great soap, never forget to use deodorant, and shower twice daily.
If you’re super paranoid, take a shower before sex.
