Hells Angel Bloomfield fined for bail breaches

THE lawyer for Hells Angel Chris Bloomfield, whose Snapchat video with Titan Jarryd Hayne sparked an NRL Integrity Unit investigat­ion, has slammed police for targeting his client.

Taskforce Maxima officers arrested the self-confessed outlaw motorcycle gang member on Thursday and charged him with three breaches of bail conditions.

Outside court yesterday, Bloomfield’s lawyer Adam Magill, of Lawler Magill, said his client had been targeted after his social media appearance with Jarryd Hayne.

“My client has been charged with three breaches of bail – this is clearly a witch-hunt on behalf of the police,” Mr Magill said.

“I just don’t see it particular­ly necessary to have Maxima detectives of a senior nature involving themselves in technical breaches.

“This obviously relates to some backlash in relation to the matter of (Jarryd) Hayne’s that is going through the investigat­ive process at the moment.”

Bloomfield has been on bail for more than two years awaiting trial for extortion and assault charges.

He yesterday pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrate­s Court to all three breaches.

Two breaches related to going within 500m of an internatio­nal departure.

Bloomfield bought a plane ticket to Melbourne from a counter at the Gold Coast Airport on July 1 to visit his sick grandmothe­r and returned two days later.

This constitute­d two breaches, for which he was fined $500 and a conviction was recorded.
