Revved up for festival of rockabilly

- CHYNA HAYDEN

MIAMI Tavern will get motors running today as the Rods and Rockabilly Festival makes its triumphant return.

Crowds are expected to exceed the 2500 who attended February’s event, the first of its kind on the Gold Coast.

Pin-up princess Bettie Butcher will host the festival and judge the pageant.

“I think that rockabilly culture is really growing on the Gold Coast,” she said.

“Other than Cooly Rocks On, the Gold Coast hasn’t had many similar opportunities to host an event like this.”

Ms Butcher believes more shade, more food trucks and more vintage cars will prove most popular.

“There really is something for everyone,” she said.

The free event will also have rides for the kids along with a fantastic line-up of live music.

“People should definitely come along, check it out and enjoy everything we have on offer,” Ms Butcher said.

The action will start at Miami Tavern from 10am.
