YOU might have heard how dreadful the situation is in Yemen at the moment, as it is in Syria, especially for children.
Life must be hell in all those Third World countries. We should thank our lucky stars that we are not born there and we should not take our safe and happy lives for granted.
As the terrorism and refugee crises have proven, those problems have spilled over into our back yards (countries).
If we want to sort out those problems, we must attack them at the source. Accepting and accom-
modating refugees is good but not good enough.
The United Nations has become hopeless and helpless in every possible way.
Individuals such as Angelina Jolie are trying to help. Humanitarian organisations such as the Red Cross, SOS international, World Vision and Doctors Without Borders are trying too but it’s hard and dangerous.
I have donated to World Vision and any future involvement would have to again depend on its nature and purpose.
However, I wouldn’t like to be pressured into anything. The decision would have to be mine.
The bottom line is that our world needs to regain balance because right now it is definitively heading towards annihilation. FRED, GOLD COAST
FOLLOWING David Hall’s letter (Your Views, GCB, 21/9/16) on the US presidential election, the US does not have a monopoly on “foul-ups’’ by world leaders. We don’t have to look much further than our own country for that.
If we had the choice (which we don’t) we would look at the qualifications of the lesser of two evils.
Hillary Clinton has been secretary of state and governor of New York State whereas Donald Trump has no political experience and is only known for the fortune he has made for his empire.

Fifteen thousand jobs. Fantastic projects and a big tick for forward planning. Makes our M1 upgrade problems look like chicken feed.
