Police sweep. GCCC hired private security guards to protect staff working nights in surfers paradise which was a waste of time and money. Security staff have no authority whereas police officers can tell people to move on. If police get in trouble they only need to call the station & backup is on the way. I fully support this cost.

I recently went to Airlie Beach on a cruise ship, was there all morning until mid afternoon and only bought a bottle of water, wandered around to see the areas natural beauty. I had had a big breakfast and returned to the ship for lunch and I wasn’t the only one.

Surely it would make more fiscal sense in the long term that the light rail ran through to Burleigh and the council made a transit station for a southern bus link and the light rail to meet.
