Holman debuts but trio ruled out

- – MARCO MONTEVERDE

BRETT Holman will don Roar colours for the first time today but Tommy Oar, Brandon Borrello and Corey Brown have all been ruled out of Brisbane’s trial against an NPL Queensland under-23 select squad.

Former Socceroo Holman is set to start and is likely to be given 45 minutes in the clash at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre.

Oar (groin) will miss a second successive trial after also sitting out the Roar’s 4-0 thrashing of Perth Glory in Sydney on Tuesday.

Joining him on the sidelines will be fellow attacking weapon Borrello and left back Brown, who both have the flu.

“There’s no need to take risks with any of these players,” said Roar coach John Aloisi, who was confident all three would be fit for Brisbane’s ALeague opener against Melbourne Victory at Suncorp Stadium on Friday week.

The NPLQ team will be captained by Gold Coast United’s Ben Litfin, who is one of seven former Roar youth team players who are part of the representative outfit.
