A PALATIAL home on Sovereign Islands, modelled on an even larger mansion there, has sold for more than $5 million.

The four-level residence, modelled off Scott Widdicombe’s Utopia property, is on 26 Hampton Court.

Boasting five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a guesthouse, public records reveal Bellagio was listed for $5.9 million last year by its previous owners John and Janet Freeman.

Prestige Property Agents Paradise Point principal Amir Mian helped seal the deal last week for Scott and Corrine Elliot, saying it fetched “in the high $5 million range”.

“The couple have lived on the Gold Coast for 25 years and specialise in commercial building,” he said.

Set in a cul-de-sac, the 700sq m block features a 15m pontoon with a 28m water frontage.

Inside, a lift provides access to all levels while the interiors feature mosaic tiling and limestone floors that flow over four-levels.

The entertaining level has a heated pool and theatre while four ensuited bedrooms are spread across the second and third floors.

Downstairs, the basement level features a games room and a wet bar which opens out to the patio.

In 2009, 26 Hampton Court was advertised for $14.5 million and included two blocks of land.

Former developers Chris and Michelle Kahler were asking for $9.5 million after Ray White Runaway Bay didn’t find a buyer for the original price.

The asking price dropped to $8.5 million in 2010 before being sold for $4.2 million in 2014.

Utopia builder Scott Widdicombe said Bellagio took concepts from his Utopia design but was inferior to the mega-mansion he built.

“I started Utopia in 2008 and finished it in 2009,” Mr Widdicombe said.

“Not long after Utopia was built, Bellagio went up.”
