GOLD Coast women are forking out up to $850 on wigs to give their “exhausted” hair a rest from expensive treatments.

Owner of Slay Luxury Wigs Sarah MacSweeney said her business really kicked off since the Kardashianrelated model Kendall Jenner started wearing them earlier this year.

“Some people just can’t cope with hair extensions or girls with darker hair might be exhausted from colouring it blonde all the time,” the Mermaid Beach businesswoman said.

“A lot of people want to give their hair a rest and let it grow naturally.”

Ms MacSweeney said the wigs weren’t just for people sick of spending a fortune on hairdresser appointments.

“We’ve had some younger girls who’re going through chemotherapy (who have lost hair as a side-effect of the treatment),” she said.

“We do discounts medical wigs for women.” for

She said once measurements were made the orders for her wigs were sent overseas to China where the hair was supplied and wigs made.

“When the wigs get to us we cut them to length, colour and curl them,” Ms MacSweeney said.

Since launching Slay Luxury Wigs in February she said she had sold about 30 wigs which retail from $650 to $850.

“It takes about 30 seconds to fit and people take it off at night-time before they go to bed,” she said.
