THIS year’s Gold Coast 600 is shaping up as the best for celeb spotting as A-listeria sweeps the city. The Coast’s Hollywood artist-in-residence, Chris Hemsworth, leads the rollcall of film, music, TV, business and sports stars expected to make tracks for the event.
Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, Hemsworth and castmates Jeff Goldblum, Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston lead the list of VIPs invited to watch the race as guests of Supercars CEO, James Warburton.
The Marvel movie isn’t the only star-studded feature shooting on the Coast.
Singer and actress Kylie Minogue arrived in town this week to begin work on writer/ director Stephan Elliott’s ( The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert) new comedy, Flammable Children.
Don’t be surprised if you spy Minogue and her fiance, Joshua Sasse, 28, watching the cars roar through the streets of Surfers Paradise from the comfort of one of the event’s new premium VIP suites.
Celeb spotters should also keep an eye out for Minogue’s Flammable Children co-stars Asher Keddie, Guy Pearce, Jeremy Sims, Radha Mitchell and Julian McMahon.
The GC600 is also a magnet for sports stars. Gold Coast Titans’ star recruit Jarryd Hayne and V8s-mad former Brisbane Broncos captain Corey Parker, who was trackside at Bathurst, lead this year’s footy player guest pack.
Gold Coast Suns players and Hayne’s Titans’ teammates have all been invited.
Grant Hackett and new girlfriend Maggie Keating could call in and Australia’s Commonwealth Games team is sure to be represented.
Self-confessed petrolhead Charli Robinson and fellow Sea FM presenter turned Married At First Sight bride Bella Frizza are race-ready and Queensland Tourism Minister Kate Jones, who made her GC600 debut last year, will return as Mr Warburton’s guest.
The Mad Hueys will oversee some trademark shoeys in the on-track party precinct Club600, where I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here star, DJ Havana Brown, will spin signature tunes.
Some Blonde, Kate Foxx, Sarah Robertson, DJ Tuini and Kaitlyn Paige will also jump behind the decks to pump up the Macintosh Island party zone where VIPs often mingle
