Thor-some comeback for Beaufils

-

BURLEIGH golfer Ray Beaufils went from villain to superhero yesterday to deliver cash to Thor’s favourite charity.

Beaufils looked set to miss the cut at the Isuzu Queensland Open with a horror 10 at the par-four ninth at Brisbane Golf Club.

But he followed it up with six birdies on the back nine – and for each one, his sponsors chipped in money to Thor actor Chris Hemsworth’s LIVIN charity.

“What’s a 10 in the big picture … it means nothing,” Beaufils said.

He hasn’t always thought that way but getting on board with LIVIN, which aids suicide prevention and the fight against depression, has tweaked his mind.

“It takes me out of my own mental battle on the golf course when helping to raise awareness for a really important charity,” Beaufils said. “A close school friend took his own life so it means a lot to me.”

Hemsworth gave LIVIN a worldwide profile when wearing the logo during filming of his latest Marvel movie in Brisbane recently.

Beaufils is joint 28th heading into today’s round.
