Horton fan’s mole alert
OLYMPIC champion Mack Horton has offered his thanks and a free swimming lesson to a fan who alerted him to a suspicious mole on his chest.
Horton yesterday was still waiting for the results of a biopsy on the mole removed on Thursday.
The 20-year-old, who shot to fame with a gold medal in the 400m freestyle in Rio, urged the fan to come forward.
“This person might actually be a skin specialist who was just watching the swimming (during Rio),” Horton said.
“They emailed the doctor from the swim team and said ‘I’ve been watching this mole for a little while, Mack should probably go and get it checked out’ so the team doc wrote me a referral.”
Horton initially shelved the referral, choosing to go on holiday to Europe before booking his skin scan.
