Bullets feel no stress

- – GREG DAVIS

BULLETS coach Andrej Lemanis says Brisbane are under no extra pressure to perform against New Zealand tonight, despite staring down the barrel of a third loss in seven days.

Brisbane fell to their second-straight defeat on Thursday when Melbourne claimed a 78-70 victory off the back of a 29-10 run in the second quarter to leave the Bullets at 2-2.

Brisbane won three quarters against Melbourne and showed fighting spirit down the stretch but turnovers killed them at critical times.

Lemanis said he was more encouraged than discouraged by the loss to United and Brisbane would enter the clash against his old side undaunted by the prospect of a hat-trick of defeats.

“Through the course of a season there’s going to be emotional highs and lows. It’s about trying to maintain some stability through that. That will put us in the best position for success,” he said.

“It’s a matter of focusing on the process and the results are always a function of process.

“I thought we made significant improvement as a team (against United). If we continue that improvement, we will be in a good place.

The Breakers are coming off a 92-78 loss to Sydney and are 1-2 for the season.
