Antiques will add to mansion’s appeal

- HANNAH SBEGHEN

A GRAND Cronin Island mansion formerly owned by a TV game show co-host will go under the hammer next month – and the antiques inside will go with it.

Property records show the owners, Murray and Julie Bailey, bought the sprawling mansion at 14 Southern Cross Drive for $4 million in 1999 from Spending Spree cohost Joan Waters.

Poised on a 1262sq m waterfront block, the home has six bedrooms and six bathrooms and greets guests with an extravagant porte cochere-style driveway.

Belle property principal Dennis McDermott is marketing the property and said the mansion had attracted interest from Asian buyers.

“A lot of people are really sold on the classical furniture,” he said.

The property will go to auction on April 8.
