Neser heads Bulls’ charge

- – ROBERT CRADDOCK

PACEMAN Michael Neser revived the fading pulse of Queensland’s Sheffield Shield summer yesterday.

Neser took 3-60 including the double breakthrough of Aaron Finch and Cameron White to keep Queensland in the contest – and the competition – in their final home and away game against Victoria at Border Field.

Needing an outright victory to be a chance of meeting Victoria in the final, Queensland reduced Victoria to 6-201 at stumps on the rain-marred day after the Bulls had made 208 on day one.

Gold Coaster Neser recently spent several weeks constantly wearing a special boot on his injured ankle and his dedication was rewarded with a major contribution.

Finch and Rob Quiney put on 100 for the third wicket before a Bulls fightback left the match up for grabs with two days to play.

Victoria have sealed their place in the final and are likely to host it in Alice Springs.

The Bulls are keen to win the match and make the final to send off their retiring captain Chris Hartley in style.
