Mitchell: I have pinch me moments’

-

ACTOR Luke Mitchell has ditched the bright lights of Hollywood for a few weeks to get back to his roots on the Gold Coast.

“It’s my first time home in almost a year ... it’s refreshing to be back, it’s a slower pace of life,” he said.

“Every time I come home something’s changed ... but we’re still a surfing community. It’s great.”

The former Home and Away star, who married fellow Summer Bay actor Rebbeca Breeds, recently landed the role of Roman in American crime drama Blindspot.

“It was a situation where I hit the ground running really,” he said.

“I wasn’t quite ready for it when it happened. I had just got back from holidays and still had my holiday beard. Fast forward a week and I got the role and they wanted me to move across the country.”

However Mr Mitchell said he was thrilled to land the role.

“I was extremely grateful for the opportunity,” he said. “It’s been one of the most fun and creative working experiences of my life.

“I have pinch me moments all the time. I’m just a kid from the Gold Coast. If I showed you my high school formal photo you’d burst out laughing.”
