and a Commonwealth and Olympic Games gold medallist. Now the 35-year-old Gold Coast product wants to help Australia return its powerhouse status in the sport and is in discussions with Triathlon Australia on an official role.

“Maybe there is an opportunity to get a bit more involved with these up and comers and help spur them on to success,” Frodeno said.

“I’m looking at a mentoring role so they have somebody with experience for the challenges these athletes some- times face. They are really hard trainers and have got to the heights of where they have got to so far but I’d love to help them fine tune it and work with them a little bit more.

“That’s something we are in discussions about now and how to make that as accessible for them as possible.

“Coaching is not something I’m particularly interested in – I’m really more looking at helping them to see what they need to put in place.

“It’s more that mental aspect I enjoy.

“I’d love to see our Aussies really taking on the world stage again.”

Frodeno’s name was among the list of Australian greats labeled on to the country’s newest suits that were on show during the Gold Coast leg of the ITU World Triathlon Series on Saturday, April 8.

The humble champion was officially welcomed into the triathlon Hall of Fame on Sunday, April 9.

Frodeno said it was only in moments where her glittering career was honoured that she realised the impact she had made on the sport.

“It just gives you time to reflect and realise what you have done,” Frodeno said.

“It all goes so quick and seems so long ago yet somehow feels like yesterday.

“I’ve had an amazing time doing what I love and it’s a perfect time for reflection.

“If I can continue to help make an impact on the sport in Australian then I’d love to.”
