Bond to bring in cavalry

-

for Bond in their Round 5 away game against Sunnybank today as the students chase a second win of the season.

“Callum will add a fair bit of work rate to the forward pack, that’s what his biggest strength is and something we have been lacking,” Hedger said.

“It also gives us strength in our lineout because we have three genuine jumping options. I think we can put a bit of pressure on the Sunnybank lineout which would be good.

“Helaman is a big strong, lad and we just need a bit more go forward in our backline.

“His biggest job will be getting us up and over the advan- tage line and then Hayden adds a bit of strike power and x-factor out wide.

“He has good speed and quick feet. Hopefully we will get a bit out of them.

“They are all form-based inclusions. Our last performance against Souths ... we weren’t real good so we just shook it up a little bit.

“You want to get a reaction out of the players. Hopefully they bring a bit of enthusiasm into the team and a bit of a spark.”

The three new players have relegated Scott Daruda, Michael Marshall and Rubin Fuimaono to the bench.

In other changes Nathan Corbett will replace the injured Fred Keil on the wing and Adam Higgins will shift into the centres as part of a rejigged line up. Bond are sitting in second last on the ladder while Sunnybank are second with two wins and a draw.

Hedger wasn’t fazed by the addition of Queensland Reds player Jake McIntyre to the Sunnybank side and said a structured game plan could beat the Dragons.

“They have got a lot of strike power, particularly in their back three,” Hedger said.

“They like unstructured play so we have got to try to keep the game fairly structured and retain possession for long periods of time.

“We don’t want to be trying to make it a loose game and throwing a lot of loose passes.

“We have got to control possession.”
