Dancers from across Australia and the world are set to transform Surfers Paradise into a sizzling stage of rhythms, as the beachside precinct hosts the 2017 Australian Dance Cup. Across the weekend, spectators will stomp to the beat and clap their hands in delight as the country’s brightest talents show off their skills across all styles of street dance, including Latin, hip hop, breakdance and jazz, vying for a total prize money of more than $8000. The event’s junior section, Step Up, will see contestant­s aged 10 and over battle it out for the coveted title of Step Up Surfers Paradise champion, thrilling audiences as they pull off moves both fierce and fanciful in front of a panel of industry judges – including internatio­nally renowned hip hop choreograp­her Jasmine Meakin. Competitor­s and spectators keen to keep tripping the light fantastic following competitio­n events can continue the party at a series of beach dance parties and shows each night of the event.
