White spot movement restrictions
Following the detections of white spot in prawns in Moreton Bay, restrictions are now in place to prevent it from spreading. You can still go fishing, catch crabs, prawns, yabbies and worms in Moreton Bay, you just can’t move them outside the movement control area, which extends from Caloundra to the New South Wales border, unless they are cooked first. White spot only affects crustaceans and bait worms and is not harmful to humans, so crabs and prawns from the region are still completely safe to eat. Before you head out fishing make sure you visit www.daf.qld.gov.au/WSD or call 13 25 23.
