Marilyn mansion for sale

THE only home ever owned by Marilyn Monroe (right), in the affluent Brentwood area of Los Angeles, is for sale with a price tag of $US6,900,000 ($9.2 million).

The blonde bombshell, whose last feature film was 1961 drama The Misfits, bought the 1929 Spanish haciendastyle four-bedroom home in the star-studded Helenas district in early 1962.

Some reports say she paid $US67,000 and others $US90,000. Whatever the figure, her residency was short-lived as she was found in August 1962, at age 36, naked and face down on her bed, dead from an apparent overdose of sleeping pills.
