CARS BOSS DRIVEN TO BEAT STAFF

- MEGAN BIROT megan.birot@news.com.au

HE’S the managing director of one of the largest motor groups on the Gold Coast but Wade von Bibra will be hitting the ground running in an entirely different race tomorrow.

Wade and his 20-strong von Bibra corporate team will swap suits for running shoes to compete in the Gold Coast Bulletin Fun Run at Cbus Super Stadium.

“I’ve got absolutely no hope of winning or to set the fastest time but it’s all about having a crack and as long as I can beat my von Bibra group I’ll be happy,” the 37year-old said. “I backed myself to do it every other year and no one ever wants to beat the boss so I might still go home with a win.

“It’s not just a fun marathon but a family event and this year I even convinced my wife Caroline to do the 5km run while my kids will also do the 1km Kids Dash.”

Wade said he and his team have trained every Thursday for the last couple of months to be in tip-top shape for the Heritage Bank 10km run.

More than 4000 competitors are expected to participate in this year’s Gold Coast Bulletin Fun Run with 10 per cent of photography proceeds going to local charity LIVIN.

Several roads will be closed for the event including Stadium Drive, Cheltenham Drive between Laver Drive and Robina Parkway (Eastbound lanes only) and Robina Parkway from Gooding Drive to Cheltenham Drive (Northbound lanes only).
