CCTV cameras on move

FOUR mobile CCTV cameras are set to be rolled out across the Gold Coast in an effort to crack down on crime.

Moncrieff MP Steve Ciobo said the Federal Government would be provided $100,000 to buy the cameras to be used in areas such Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Chevron Island and Bundall where crime hot spots had been identified.

“There is no substitute for having police on the beat,” he said. “CCTV are a tool, they are an important and essential aid to help with crime fighting.”

Mr Ciobo said he was “outraged” at the Labor government’s soft approach on crime.
