Mercedes’ ugly feud

-

SCHAPELLE Corby’s sister Mercedes invited bikies to her Coolangatta bar opening and threatened to “play dirty” in an ugly feud with her ex-bestie and business partner, court documents allege.

An “aggressive” Rosleigh Rose, the Corby sisters’ mother, also allegedly intervened in the bitter dispute with former surf star Trudy Todd, warning: “Don’t mess with us.”

Mercedes has denied the allegations, contained in a witness statement filed by police as part of an apprehended violence order application against her on Todd’s behalf.

A Tweed Heads magistrate yesterday ordered an interim AVO to remain in place until September after earlier voicing concerns about the women’s “dirty laundry” being aired in public.

In her police statement, obtained by the Bulletin, Todd said that she had known Mercedes for 27 years and opened a bar called Laneway at Coolangatta last year.

But mid last year, the part- ners had a disagreement “in relation to a personal matter”.

“Mercedes was scared that the disagreement would become public knowledge and also threatened civil action,” Todd claimed in the police statement.

She claimed Rosleigh Rose later approached her boyfriend and told him: “Tell Trudy we are going to get her. Don’t mess with us or we will get her.”

Todd said she organised the opening party for Laneway last October, but received a call from staff telling her that “a large group of bikies had arrived at the bar”.

“I made some inquiries and found out that Mercedes had added them to the guest list,” Todd said.

Magistrate Jeff Linden yesterday ordered an interim AVO to remain in place until September 8.

Last night, Mercedes denied any threats were made to Todd and rejected the bikie allegations. “Nobody ever threatened her,” she said. “I don’t know bikies, she does.”

She said Schapelle, who was deported from Bali a week ago, was “doing well thanks’’.
