Dreamworld goes back to the future

-

EVERYTHING old will be new again for Dreamworld as it begins the latest phase of its charm offensive to woo back the public.

The Coomera theme park has unveiled its $7.5 million upgrade, with a revamp of its famous Tiger Island attraction and promises of more in the pipeline.

The famous Rocky Hollow log ride and vintage cars – both dating back to the park’s 1981 launch – will reopen later this year and park chief executive Craig Davidson revealed a mystery third classic attraction would also run again.

Eager park fans have speculated it will be the Eureka Mountain Mine Ride which was closed in 2006.

Mr Davidson said the park was bouncing back from the Thunder River Rapids tragedy which claimed four lives in October.

“We’re not where,” he said.

“It’s slow and steady but we feel that we’re on the road to recovery. going any-

“We are seeing a steady improvement and we realise that this takes time but the best that we can do is to continually reinvest in the park and new experiences in a respectful manner.”

Among the new features are two-level high-end cabanas at White Water World, a new dining area near the park’s entrance and the upgraded Tiger Island.

It now sports an interactive component, allowing audiences to come face-to-face with the tigers, through the safety of 32mm-thick glass as well as metal grills through which crowds can smell the creature’s breath.
