When Cooly’s rocking, the Coast comes knocking.

If you sense something shaking this weekend, that’s just the GC’s southernmo­st suburb getting down to some good vibrations.

The annual Cooly Rocks On festival is back in town, and for the first time, all daytime entertainm­ent is completely free.

Presenting a star-studded line-up of rock ’n’ roll and rockabilly bands, plus all the usual festival favourites, get along to as many events as you can squeeze in and make the most of the party-fuelled atmosphere.

From the poodle parade to the Miss Cooly Rocks On pageant, to the signature street parade, car cruises and Show ’n’ Shines, there’s plenty to fill your weekend dance card without emptying your wallet.

The action starts early today with the show-stopping street parade kicking off at 9.30am, with Coolangatt­a’s beautiful beachfront

providing the backdrop to the rock, revs and old-fashioned glamour hitting the streets.

The crowd-pleasing Show ’n’ Shine is on today and tomorrow from 9am to 4.30pm, with the streets of Coolangatt­a packed with more than 1000 custom and classic cars as well as hot rods.

For the younger enthusiast, join in the Junior Show ‘n’ Shine pedal car display today from 10am-noon at Greenmount’s southern foreshore.

Aimed at encouragin­g the next generation of car lovers, the Junior Show ’n’ Shine attracts both the little kids and the big kids to build and display their own retro and custommade pedal cars.

So that’s the adults and kids taken care of – but don’t forget the dogs.

Oodles of poodles will hit the dogwalk tomorrow for the poodle parade as they take the stage at Jack Evans Boat Harbour to perform tricks for Cooly Rocks On fans. The coiffured canines will be joined by their schnoodle, foodle, labradoodl­e, spoodle and cavoodle mates.

Entrants will be competing in categories that include Prettiest Poodle, Best Rock ’n’ Roll Couple (owner and dog), Cutie Pie (under 12 years and dog), Best Trick and the overall Best in Show.
