SARAH A HERO IN TRAINING

- ANDREW POTTS

LOOK up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane — it’s Sarah Yates leading the next generation of superheroes.

The 13-year-old student is among the first to step out of the day-to-day grind of schoolwork and step off the ground entirely to try a new experience which is straight out of the colourful pages of comic books.

If you have wanted to soar like Superman or Wonder Woman, now is your chance, with superhero classes to be held in central Surfers Paradise these school holidays.

The classes will be held at iFLY Indoor Skydiving on July 5, with children from as young as three years able to suit up and live out their comic book fantasies.

Sarah tried on the pink Supergirl-inspired flightsuit this week and felt the wind against her face at the indoor centre, where she was taught how to spin, fly and move while replicating the experience of an open-air skydive.

iFLY’s Brett Sheridan said the class was the first of its kind to be held in Australia.

“We are pretty sure this is the only kind of superhero class in the country,” he said.
