HIT THE STREETS AND SAMPLE LOCAL CUISINE

-

Whether it’s haggis, goulash or escargot … it’s got to go.

Today signals the start of the Scenic Rim’s Eat Local Week, so if your plate is filled with gastronomic goodies that aren’t from around here, get it out of there.

We do share the same Hinterland backyard as our western neighbours – and it’s time to feast on its fruits.

While there’s a buffet of food and beverage events on offer over the next seven days, try a taster of all that’s on offer with the Beaudesert Gourmet Street Food Festival on tomorrow from 9am to 2pm.

Organised by the team from The Design Collective Markets, the event will see Jubilee Park filled with incredible food trucks serving cuisines from around the world … with a catch: they’ll all be adopting a local Scenic Rim ingredient. Think fingerlime kombucha; paella with Tarome red claw; a Boonah burger featuring Rathdowney beef and Kalbar carrots. Live music will add to the vibe. While you’re in the area, drop into the Scenic Rim 4Real Milk open day and birthday celebrations on tomorrow from 10am to 3pm.

Watch the cows being milked by robots, hear about the farm and bottling process from Farmer Gregie and go home with loads of fresh milk, cheese and yoghurt. WHERE: Gourmet Street Food Festival at Telemon Street (Mt Lindesay Highway), Jubilee Park, Beaudesert; 4Real Milk open day at 9023 Mt Lindesay Highway, Tamrookum CONTACT: eatlocalweek.com.au PRICE: Free entry to Gourmet Street Food Festival; gold coin donation to charity for 4Real Milk open day
