SHIPPING TYCOON COULD SET A GOLD COAST RECORD

THE front door of this mega mansion is about the same price as a four-bedroom home on the Gold Coast – and that’s just the beginning of the pricey features.

The sprawling mansion comes with a price tag of more than $30 million and if it sells would crack the highest sale ever on the Gold Coast.

The city record stands at $27 million, paid in 2008 by later-failed internet whiz Daniel Tzvetkoff to BreakFree founder Tony Smith for an uncompleted mansion in Hedges Ave, Mermaid Beach.

The stunning Sovereign Islands property at 7-13 King Arthurs Court spans across four blocks totalling 4000sq m and took three years to build.

It is one of the Gold Coast’s largest waterfront homes and comes complete with a $500,000 front door, bulletproof bedroom and steelspine design staircase.

Home to German super yacht builder Klaus Lilischkies and his wife Leigh, the mammoth property is on the market for the first time since the couple built it 16 years ago.

The home, called Chateau De Reves, has 24-carat gold in the pool tiles, two kitchens, seven bedrooms and a 9sq m wardrobe for shoes only.

Serviced with a lift, the mansion also has a 14-car basement garage, full-size tennis court, spa and Turkish steam room.

Mr Lilischkies bought the block in 1996 for $1.976 million before importing luxurious interiors from Europe.

Sotheby’s Queensland CEO Paul Arthur said the home was worth more than $30 million.

“It has been on the market for three days and we have already had interested buyers from London and the Middle East,” Mr Arthur said.

“Currently the price is negotiable but it is one of the most expensive homes on the Gold Coast. It would cost an excess of $30 million to rebuild something like this.”

Mr Arthur said the mansion’s German owner uses the property as a holiday home when he isn’t in Europe building yachts for the rich and famous. “He is a very private man and he does a lot of work for the world’s elite,” he said.

Mr Arthur said the bulletproof bedroom catered for the owners’ privacy.

“The home is packed with German technology and the owner has imported most of it, if not everything, from around the world,” he said.
