I AM not anti-progress but feel the light rail via GC Highway may not be good.

I am not sure if stage 1 or 2 affect caravan parks, medical clinics and schools. But these could be a stage 3 concern for people who need to access them.

Also, from Broadbeach to Burleigh there are many elderly people who would find it hard to visit places of business, or you would need many stations to cater for them.

I agree with those who say the GC Highway is too narrow to accommodate the light rail and should be taken another way.

I believe Mayor Tate may not have visited his southern suburbs to ascertain how this would affect those living there and what disaster it could cause to businesses along the way.

Also I feel Mr Tate may need to think about why he was unable to visit Europe, regarding the CST.

Am pleased our Mayoress is still here and wish her good health. BT, MIAMI LAST Sunday I along with family and friends farewelled the remains of our much loved Jesse to the ocean off Northcliffe SLSC. The day could not have been more perfect, unlike the reason we were all there for in the first place.

Jesse struggled with mental illness and his treatment or lack of it from Veterans’ Affairs didn’t help.

Apparently the VA’s budget doesn’t allow much input into Vets’ mental health and wellbeing.

Yet now millions of dollars are available for a useless plebiscite to stroke a few egos. They, themselves, are suffering from something I would call “dinosauribis”.

Not real folks, unlike our Jess and many of his fellow travellers whose pain is real.

We love Jesse too much to give up on the battle. If not for him, for others who will surely follow. PAMELA KUNZ PERHAPS commonsense should prevail with NRL players wearing head gear.

The concussion rate is becoming quite alarming and it is obviously a huge concern for players, coaches, family member, minders and mentors.

Lifetime issues concerning head clashes are being exposed more frequently than ever before with health experts constantly warning of possible future risks.

Football is one of my lifelong enjoyments but not to see a player carried off with concussion.

To protect yourself is not a crime, it’s a player’s right. All coaches take note, your responsibility to warn players is to obtain the best a player can bring to a game.

Obviously if a player is out because of concussion for a few weeks that won’t happen. LOCAL BLOKE

STREET Talk ( GCB, 17/8) re euthanasia. Interesting that only the two younger ones don’t agree.

Us elders, with more life experience, have all seen or experienced pain and suffering.

It’s not fun. You can’t always take a pill to stop the pain. Very strong painkillers don’t work for long-term. Then what? Let the individual decide. QUEENIE
