Maritimo rides wave of success

-

GOLD Coast luxury boat builder Maritimo is continuing to chart a global course after making a big splash at the Sydney International Boat Show.

It recorded strong sales results and created a wave of interest with the world launch of the largest single-level cruiser it has ever built, the S70 cruising motor yacht.

As part of its international expansion rollout, dealer partners from around the world were flown in for the occasion.

Maritimo also unveiled the innovative design of its X60 sports yacht, due to be completed early next year.

Five of the X60s already have been pre-ordered and several other contracts are in the pipeline, with the unique vessel drawing a lot of international interest.

Maritimo chief executive officer Garth Corbitt said the Sydney show was one of the strongest ever with buyer interest from all major Australian states and New Zealand.

“For reasons of commercial in-confidence we do not talk specific numbers but needless to say there was a lot of interest across the range of models we were highlighting in Sydney and the S70, in particular, was a showstopper,” he said.

“We have finalised multimillion-dollar deals and continue to talk to visitors at our display and are confident further sales will result.”

Mr Corbitt said Maritimo’s major US dealer partner, Galati Yacht Sales, sent six members of its sales team to Sydney to help them become more familiar with the new models and understand the key points of difference of the range.

In addition to the Galati contingent, Compass Point Yacht’s president, Bill King, was also at the Sydney show.

“We have been working with Bill on a serious push into the West Coast region and I’m pleased to say we are gaining traction there and also in Canada,” Mr Corbitt said.

He said about 50 per cent of the company’s production was currently going to international markets.
