Merc camper makes big inroads
GOLD Coasters have jumped on board the Mercedes-Benz camper trend with six of their newest vehicles selling since being launched last month.
Mercedes-Benz Gold Coast dealer principal Robin Mainali said the Marco Polo Activity, priced from $69,990, had proven very popular.
“It is such a functional vehicle,” Mr Mainali said.
“Your daily driver can become your home away from home on the weekends.
“It can take you on an adventure with all the luxuries expected of a Mercedes-Benz.”
Mr Mainali said the camper had attracted plenty of attention at his Robina dealership.
“The Marco Polo Activity is a well-equipped, convenient vehicle which works as a daily driver, but quickly transforms into a camper for those quick weekends away,” he said.
“The versatility sets it apart and it is sure to be a popular addition to the Mercedes-Benz range, especially for grey nomads and young families.”
The van has a four-cylinder turbo diesel engine with a 2.5tonne towing capacity, plus reversing camera and satellite navigation.
Driver and front passenger seats can be swivelled to face the rear passenger compartment which contains a folding table package and bed.
The van is available in a five or seven-seat configuration while the rear three-bench seat can be removed to provide a loading area for bulky items or fold down to form a bed.
The roof pops up to reveal another bed, which can take a weight of 200kg.
