Buses link for Games

-

THE key to the success of next year’s Commonwealth Games is quite literally riding on this company.

Games LinQ has been awarded a contract to provide and staff more than 800 shuttle buses critical to the GC2018 transport plan.

Through its Bundall project office, the Victoria-based company will provide shuttle bus services to take athletes, officials, spectators and accredited members of the Games workforce in and around the Gold Coast.

Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones said more than 2000 jobs would be generated with the delivery of dedicated shuttle bus services for the Games in April next year.

“It’s great that Games LinQ with its project headquarters in Bundall, has been awarded this contract,” she said.

“Up to 800 buses are needed for such a major international sporting event and a key part of Games LinQ’s plan is to give priority to Queensland buses and bus drivers.

“Three types of shuttle services will operate during the Games connecting venues to transport hubs, such as heavy and light rail stations.

“They will support the existing public transport network and connect with park ‘n’ rides.”
