Car smashes into fire truck on M1

A man, 27, was badly hurt in an accident on the M1 yesterday. Police were investigat­ing the incident in which a car crashed into the back of a fire truck that was attending another accident. They said the fire vehicle was stationary in the left lane with its emergency lights on. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the car, had to be freed by firefighte­rs and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
