Family comes first as Roberts skips awards

TITANS utility Tyrone Roberts was a notable absentee from Wednesday night’s Paul Broughton medal dinner at the QT Hotel.

But it had nothing to do with the 26year-old’s ongoing contract negotiations with the Titans, which have dragged on for months.

Roberts and partner Brittany had bigger plans, welcom- ing their second child, Chilli Mahina, a younger sister for Leilani.

Former Newcastle Knights player Roberts, who missed the final round of the season to undergo shoulder surgery, remains in negotiations but looks likely to stay on the Gold Coast with the Titans next season.

There might be another celebration looming.
