HEAT ARE SWEATING ON LYNN TO BE FIT

-

CAPTAIN Brendon McCullum has not given up hope of batting star Chris Lynn returning for the Brisbane Heat in tonight’s Big Bash League match against the Melbourne Renegades.

Off-season shoulder injury and a hamstring niggle forced Lynn to miss the Heat’s opening win against the Melbourne Stars but he caught the plane to Melbourne for tonight’s match and a late decision will be made on whether he plays.

“I am still hopeful he will play,” McCullum said. “He will train tonight and if he pulls up well tomorrow we might as well play him.’’

Lynn’s return is eagerly awaited by the Heat after the in-form Joe Burns suffered a groin strain during Brisbane’s 15-run win over the Stars and was left out of the squad to Melbourne.

Marnus Labuschagne is likely to replace Burns in the squad if Lynn does not play.

Fast man Cameron Gannon, who formerly played for the Renegades, has been included in the Heat’s squad but is likely to miss out on a starting berth.

The Renegades are an interesting team featuring former Heat allrounder Jake Wildermuth, West Indian Dwayne Bravo and ageless chinaman bowler Brad Hogg.

The canny Bravo often confuses batsmen by delivering his slow medium pace at around 100km/h, a rate which batsmen rarely face because it is faster than a spinner but slower than traditional pacemen.
