WHAT’S ON AT CHRISTMAS

-

The pick of adults-only and family activities this festive season.

No doubt most of us are saving our stomachs for Christmas Day, but for those who are gluttons for punishment – or just plain gluttons – head to Steampunk.

The Surfers Paradise gastropub recently launched its Steampunk Sunday Sessions – and Christmas Eve could be the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy an afternoon of live eclectic cocktails, beer towers and delectable dishes from 4pm to 7pm.

Live music comes courtesy of local artists – either get up close and personal with an inside table or bask in the afternoon sun out on the balcony.

Steampunk prides itself on its creative drinks menu.

The cocktail list is nothing short of exhilarating, with every tipple promising a moving element under the categories Toothsome, Sourish, Perplexing, Enchanting and Mindaltering – yes, mind-altering and yes, it does contain absinthe.

Meanwhile, the food menu, while not following the steampunk textbook of dried meats and cured vegetables, is also designed to encourage interactivity.

Instead of normal chips, there’s duck fat roasted potatoes with rosemary and garlic.

If you’re missing the classic pub schnitty, instead have house-crumbed schnitzel bites with bravas, cheese and crispy prosciutto.

At this rate, Santa may not be the only one with a fat belly.
