McGrath’s ex-agent list

-

THE McGrath saga is surely one of the most interesting business stories around.

A highly-successful real estate company lists on the ASX and within a few years becomes one of its worst performing stocks. Given this, your diligent Bizzy Bits team thought it useful to revisit where all the Gold Coast McGrath refugees have ended up in a sort of ‘where are they now?’ wrap.

Well brace yourself, because the list is rather long. Firstly there is James Ledgerwood (above), who is at The Agency in Sydney.

On the Gold Coast, John Natoli (top) helps to head of the local arm of The Agency, which was started by ex-McGrath executives including Matt Lahood. Mr Natoli left last year after deciding he needed a change.

Who else? Well, Duncan Longmore now works for Kollosche Prestige Agents and Isaac and Maria Genc have formed their own agency called Genc & Co.

The latest refugees are Karen Stewart and Edward Smyth who announced this week they were leaving to open an NGU Real Estate office on the Gold Coast. That leaves the McGrath operation on the Gold Coast significantly reduced. It’ll be interesting to see, now that founder John McGrath is back in charge, if he can rebuild the agency to its previous position.

Agents generally have a high regard for the star agent. Otherwise thousands wouldn’t attend AREC on the Gold Coast each year. It will be interesting to note the vibe among the McGrath agents this year. Watch this space.
