GOSS IN ALL ITS GLITTER

Fresh from victory in the latest UK series of Celebrity Big Brother, Courtney Act, aka Shane Jenek, will ‘Sparkle in the Sand’ at Festival 2018 during the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April

DRAG sensation Courtney Act will host what organisers hope will be the biggest celebration of LGBTQI pride “this side of the rainbow”.

Act, best known here for star turns on Australian Idol, Rupauls Drag Race and at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, will lead Sparkle in the Sand, a Festival 2018 event in Surfers Paradise on April 9 during the Commonwealth Games. The free event will celebrate the worldwide LGBTQI community, with crowds encouraged to kick off their heels, loafers and bedazzled thongs and relax into an evening of “song, dance, laughter and delight” with performers, athletes and speakers.

Brisbane-born entertainer Act (pictured), whose real name is Shane Jenek, finished 13th on Australian Idol in 2003 and went on to release the single Rub Me Wrong.

In Britain, she’s best known for appearing on Single AF on MTV, in Little Mix’s Power video clip and most recently for winning Celebrity Big Brother .

Act, 35, was never far from the headlines on the show thanks to candid admissions including that she would happily have sex on TV.

‘If I was in this environment and I was with somebody who was attracted to me and I was attracted to and them and we were in bed together ... I probably would find myself engaging in sexual conduct in here,’ she told her housemates.

To which fellow housemate and Coronoation Street veteran Amanda Barrie, 82, replied: “You must be desperate darling.”

Act was quick to respond. “I’m not desperate I’m just not a prude or ashamed of my body or of sex,” she said. Touche!

I’m just not a prude or ashamed of my body or of sex.
